At Windsong Academy, summer is a season for adventure — a time when curiosity leads the way and children learn by engaging with the world around them. Our Summer Camp offers a thoughtful blend of outdoor education, project-based learning, and hands-on skill-building that supports the whole child: mind, body, and spirit.
Garden-to-Table Exploration
Campers plant, harvest, and cook their own food. They learn where their meals come from, develop a love of fresh ingredients, and experience the full cycle from seed to snack. Our ducks and rabbits are part of this ecosystem, teaching children about animal care, responsibility, and the interconnection of all living things.
Plant & Grow
Children get their hands dirty planting seeds, watering plants, and watching their garden flourish
Care for Animals
Daily interactions with our ducks and rabbits build empathy, gentleness, and understanding of animal needs
Harvest & Cook
Pick fresh produce and prepare healthy snacks, learning basic cooking skills and nutrition
Learning Through Care
When children care for our ducks and rabbits, they learn valuable life skills: responsibility for another living being, the importance of consistent routines, gentle and respectful handling, and compassion. They observe behaviors, understand animal communication, and develop a deep appreciation for the natural world. These experiences build character, patience, and a sense of stewardship that extends far beyond summer camp.
Building & Maker Workshops
With age-appropriate tools and guidance, campers safely explore how things are built. Activities include:
- Woodworking projects like birdhouses or garden structures
- Designing and building simple machines or play spaces
- Problem-solving through trial, error, and innovation
This hands-on craftsmanship builds fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and confidence.
Nature Adventures & Animal Care
Our campus is a natural classroom. Campers enjoy:
- Hiking adventures, creek play, and nature scavenger hunts
- Daily care of our friendly ducks and rabbits, learning responsibility, gentle handling, and empathy
- Observing wildlife, identifying plants, and exploring seasonal changes
- Understanding animal needs, feeding schedules, and creating safe habitats
Risky play — climbing, balancing, exploring — is encouraged in a safe and supervised way to build resilience and bravery. Through animal care, children develop compassion, routine, and accountability while forming meaningful connections with nature.
Creative Arts & Self-Expression
Nature fuels imagination. Campers dive into:
- Outdoor art using natural materials
- Music, storytelling, and collaborative creativity
- Theater games and child-led performances
Kids learn to express ideas and celebrate one another's talents.
Community, Leadership, & Life Skills
Through daily projects and group challenges, campers grow:
